What I told my MOM to do about her back pain

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I just spoke to my mom the other day who has been battling back pain for over a decade now… in fact, it was her initial bout of back pain all those years ago that drove me to find a solution.

I remember thinking “there had to be a better way” and boy was I right. Anyway, she was telling me about a procedure that her doctor recommended and the first thing that jumped out at me was she was willing to do the “quick and easy” treatment before committing to the harder, but more effective alternatives.

While this particular treatment may be effective, the fact is it’s not a sure thing, there are potential side effects, and like most common treatments, it does NOT do anything to address what created the condition in the first place.

Yet she was sold on the idea and placed it higher on her to do list then two other treatments I recommended that were “harder” but had little or no negative side effects.

Now part of this may be because her “doctor” recommended it but part of it is also human nature… we tend to always look for the “easy way” and while this may be good in some situations, it’s bad when it comes to health because most of the time, the quick and easy way is not the most effective… and it’s also often the method which has the most cons or side effects.

As I’ve said many times before, every persons situation is different and the combination of treatments that works for one person may not work for another.

And while my mom has made good progress using my Lose The Back Pain system and other treatments I have recommended to her, she still is not 100%… plus it doesn’t help that she recently slipped and fell (again).

Like most people, she’s looking for that “one thing” that will finally put an END to her pain… but what I’ve found over all these years working with so many people is that it’s pretty rare that just one thing will eliminate all of your pain.

Sometimes it happens, but more often what does the trick is a combination of treatments and therapies… and the more specific they are to your physical situation (the muscle imbalances you have, the condition you’ve been diagnosed with, your emotional state, etc) the better the results you’ll see.

top10list.jpgSo here’s my list of the
“Top 10 Back Pain Treatments”:

1. Mind-Body Therapy
(hypnosis, emotional freedom therapy - this is far bigger than most people realize)

2. Muscle Balance Therapy
(corrective exercises, stretches, muscle work)

3. Reducing Inflammation

4.
Pain Relief Creams
(instant but temporary relief)

5. Inversion / Decompression Therapy

6.
Far Infrared Heat Therapy

7. Energy Medicine / Healing
(I’ll have articles and videos on this for you very soon)

8. Trigger Point Therapy

9.
Acupuncture / Acupressure
(ancient treatment proven to help with all sorts of conditions)

10.
Massage Therapy
(can be great if done correctly and therapist knows your body)

11.
Sleep
(gotta get deep sleep and enough of it)

12.
Healthy Eating
(no, a salad at McDonalds is NOT eating healthy)

13.
Change How You Sit
(for those of us who sit for too long)

So, it’s more than 10… but top 10 sounds better…

If you are sitting there right now with pain and have not tried all of the above, get to work. And if you have tried them all, which is highly unlikely, then let me know and I’ll give you a list of even more treatments.

The point is this, the people who get lasting relief are the ones who DON’T STOP until they find the answer. You must be relentless if you want to beat this.

I know it’s not easy but you CAN do this… you, and all others, have the power and ability to heal yourself but it requires determination, focus, hard work, patience, perseverance and most importantly, ACTION. So what are you going to do to make this happen?

Remember, I and the rest of my team are here for you… as well as the thousands of others who visit and share on our discussion forum.

Go make it happen… and I can’t wait to hear of your success!

Jesse

P.S. I love you mom (yes, she reads my email newsletters)

Research proves you can have a Herniated Disc and not have pain…

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Would you have back pain if every part of your body were perfect? The answer has to be… No, it’s pretty safe to say you wouldn’t have any pain if your body were perfectly aligned, perfectly balanced and in a perfect state of being.

But here’s the thing—you don’t have to be perfect to be pain-free. In fact, you can have serious conditions like Spinal Stenosis and even a Herniated disc and still have no pain—regardless of the type of job you have or how you think the condition developed or even the unique situation that you find yourself in today.

Don’t believe it? The prestigious New England Journal of Medicine just reported it.

They published a study in which researchers performed an MRI on 98 people who had no back pain. And the researchers found that nearly two thirds of them had some kind of abnormal disk condition.

How our Bodies use Systemic Enzymes in our everyday life…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

The list below is only a sample of the types of conditions that can be addressed with systemic proteolytic enzymes. If you are still wondering how one little substance can support all of these conditions, remember that they all have one thing in common - excess fibrin, which causes a reduction in blood flow.

7 Little Known Natural Pain Relievers, for Arthritis, Back Pain or Fibromyalgia

Friday, September 5th, 2008

When you think pain relief, most people reach for the ibuprofen, or
worse yet, the presc’+'ription medication.

But did you know there are hundreds of proven, natural pain relievers?

It’s true, and many of them have not only been used for centuries, but
many have also been clinically proven to work as well, and in some cases,
even better than presc’+'riptions.

So I wanted to share with you today 7 of these little known healing gems.

1. Proteolytic enzymes - have been proven to have a powerful anti-inflammatory
effect and also boost cardiovascular, respiratory and immune function.

Unlike NSAID’s which may give only temporary relief and do not fix the
underlying cause of the problem, systemic enzymes work to reduce the
inflammation and promote healing without any side effects.

Here are just a few examples…

A study published in the Journal of Medicine, Science, Sports and Exercise
found that “proteolytic enzymes have therapeutic effects in the treatment of
inflammation and soft tissue injuries.”

Another study done by the Institute of Cancer Research in Vienna found that
“a combination of proteolytic enzymes and herbs were effective in treating
rheumatoid arthritis and reducing TGF-b which is known to be present in
the blood when there is cancer.”

2. Bromelain - This special natural compound, which is extracted from pineapple,
contains several proteolytic enzymes that have been shown to short-circuit
multiple pain pathways in the body.

It has been studied extensively since it’s discovery in 1957 and hundreds of
studies have shown it to reduce inflammation, reduce and prevent swelling
and remove waste and toxins from the blood.

For example, in another study, 77 patients taking 400mg/day of Bromelain
experienced significant reduction in pain and swelling.

3. Tumeric Extract - is taken from the dried root of the plant and it has been
used to treat a wide range of ailments for thousands of years.

Studies have shown that it reduces inflammation by blocking both the COX-2
and 5-LOX enzymes which create pain. In addition, tumeric’s antioxidant powers
work to seek out and destroy free radicals in the body which contribute to pain
and swelling.

A recent study done at the prestigous Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center
in New York found that Tumeric was more safe and precise than asprin in
stopping inflammation by shutting down the COX2 enzyme responsible for pain.
But Tumeric caused none of asprin’s typical gastrointestinal irritation.

4. Papain - contains a wide range of proteolytic enzymes and works by breaking
down proteins. In studies it has been shown to be effective in the treatment of
numerous conditions such as diabetes, herpes, cancer and digestion issues like
bloating and chronic indigestion. Papain has also been shown to attack tumor
cells and boost the immune system.

5. Boswellia Extract - One of the most widely used herbs in Indian medicine, it has
been used for centuries by traditional Indian healers to reduce pain and
inflammation. Hundreds of studies have been done proving its effectiveness and
in addition to being a powerful and safe, natural anti-inflammatory, Boswellia has
also been shown to support healthy blood circulation.

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study, 30 patients received
333mg, 3x a day of Boswelia. The group who received the Boswelia had a
significant reduction in pain and swelling and experienced an increase in joint
mobility and flexibility as compared to the placebo group.

6. Rutin - Found naturally in a variety of plants and fruits, this flavanoid has been
shown to have a strong anti-inflammatory effect due to its powerful anti-oxidant
activity.

7. Ginger Extract - Used for over 2,500 years in Asia, Ginger has been used to treat
nausea and to reduce pain and inflammation. It works by decreasing the amount of
prostaglandins, which are what cause you to feel pain.

These are just 7 of the 11 proven healers and pain relievers that make up Heal-n-Soothe.
This all-natural formula works incredibly well and not just for back pain…
people are reporting relief for all types of pains and conditions like:

- Joint Pain / Arthritis
- Tendonitis / Bursitis
- Head Aches
- PMS Pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Fatigue

And dozens of others. But what’s really exciting is the fact that thousands of people
have been able to dump the harsh and dangerous medications for a safer solution.

Plus, many people are even reporting BETTER results than multiple different
medications. So if you suffer from any type of ache or pain, I suggest you give this
stuff a shot - I’m sure you’ll be happily surprised.

How do Athletes Improve Performance, Drugs? Mental Attitude? or Physical Balance?

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

I got this chat Question this morning and I wanted to share it with all of our Athletes with or without back pain…

As  you read through it, remember that core strength alone is not the answer… Athletes that do single sport activities are creating muscle imbalances everyday and that is not how world class athletes do it any more…
It takes education, I urge you to study the benefits of having a balanced body…

***Question***
I am an avid cyclist (50 - 100 mile rides) and am wondering if you have specific sport related stretches for cycling - for tight hip flexors, ITB etc.? I am currently experiencing some back pain that is getting better through chiro adjustments, but would like something to prevent future problems.

***Our Chat***
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Find a massage therapist that can do hip flexor release, it is not easily done by your self, it hurts but it will uninhabited your gluts and hamstrings and your performance will improve…
Visitor: So are you saying that your program would not benefit me?
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Sure it would but we also tell people that when you need specific work at a higher level of care we, seek help from the best experts you can, we also say you will need to do BOTH
Visitor: Ok, I guess after the hip flexor release, your program would help maintain flexibility? Does your program increase overall core strength and flexibility?
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Better,, we help you understand how to keep your body in balance from a strength vs strength perspective and a balanced body will make for a better athlete…
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Does that make sense to you? How do you think as time goes on that the next generation of athletes can break world records year after year, I know it part drugs, part believe but also improvements in physical conditioning conditioning that not only creates core strength but does it in a balanced way…
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: The closer to prefect athletes become the better they perform, they learn to make them self the best they can be, through study and understanding core principle of preformance,  The closer to perfect they can make them selfs the better they will become, do you have to achieve perfection NO but as you study what it takes to get there and as you work towards it all things improve…
Visitor: Makes sense. How much for shipping to Dundas, ON L9H4E4?
