7 Little Known Natural Pain Relievers, for Arthritis, Back Pain or Fibromyalgia

When you think pain relief, most people reach for the ibuprofen, or
worse yet, the presc’+'ription medication.

But did you know there are hundreds of proven, natural pain relievers?

It’s true, and many of them have not only been used for centuries, but
many have also been clinically proven to work as well, and in some cases,
even better than presc’+'riptions.

So I wanted to share with you today 7 of these little known healing gems.

1. Proteolytic enzymes – have been proven to have a powerful anti-inflammatory
effect and also boost cardiovascular, respiratory and immune function.

Unlike NSAID’s which may give only temporary relief and do not fix the
underlying cause of the problem, systemic enzymes work to reduce the
inflammation and promote healing without any side effects.

Here are just a few examples…

A study published in the Journal of Medicine, Science, Sports and Exercise
found that “proteolytic enzymes have therapeutic effects in the treatment of
inflammation and soft tissue injuries.”

Another study done by the Institute of Cancer Research in Vienna found that
“a combination of proteolytic enzymes and herbs were effective in treating
rheumatoid arthritis and reducing TGF-b which is known to be present in
the blood when there is cancer.”

2. Bromelain - This special natural compound, which is extracted from pineapple,
contains several proteolytic enzymes that have been shown to short-circuit
multiple pain pathways in the body.

It has been studied extensively since it’s discovery in 1957 and hundreds of
studies have shown it to reduce inflammation, reduce and prevent swelling
and remove waste and toxins from the blood.

For example, in another study, 77 patients taking 400mg/day of Bromelain
experienced significant reduction in pain and swelling.

3. Tumeric Extract – is taken from the dried root of the plant and it has been
used to treat a wide range of ailments for thousands of years.

Studies have shown that it reduces inflammation by blocking both the COX-2
and 5-LOX enzymes which create pain. In addition, tumeric’s antioxidant powers
work to seek out and destroy free radicals in the body which contribute to pain
and swelling.

A recent study done at the prestigous Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Center
in New York found that Tumeric was more safe and precise than asprin in
stopping inflammation by shutting down the COX2 enzyme responsible for pain.
But Tumeric caused none of asprin’s typical gastrointestinal irritation.

4. Papain – contains a wide range of proteolytic enzymes and works by breaking
down proteins. In studies it has been shown to be effective in the treatment of
numerous conditions such as diabetes, herpes, cancer and digestion issues like
bloating and chronic indigestion. Papain has also been shown to attack tumor
cells and boost the immune system.

5. Boswellia Extract – One of the most widely used herbs in Indian medicine, it has
been used for centuries by traditional Indian healers to reduce pain and
inflammation. Hundreds of studies have been done proving its effectiveness and
in addition to being a powerful and safe, natural anti-inflammatory, Boswellia has
also been shown to support healthy blood circulation.

In a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled study, 30 patients received
333mg, 3x a day of Boswelia. The group who received the Boswelia had a
significant reduction in pain and swelling and experienced an increase in joint
mobility and flexibility as compared to the placebo group.

6. Rutin – Found naturally in a variety of plants and fruits, this flavanoid has been
shown to have a strong anti-inflammatory effect due to its powerful anti-oxidant
activity.

7. Ginger Extract – Used for over 2,500 years in Asia, Ginger has been used to treat
nausea and to reduce pain and inflammation. It works by decreasing the amount of
prostaglandins, which are what cause you to feel pain.

These are just 7 of the 11 proven healers and pain relievers that make up Heal-n-Soothe.
This all-natural formula works incredibly well and not just for back pain…
people are reporting relief for all types of pains and conditions like:

- Joint Pain / Arthritis
- Tendonitis / Bursitis
- Head Aches
- PMS Pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic Fatigue

And dozens of others. But what’s really exciting is the fact that thousands of people
have been able to dump the harsh and dangerous medications for a safer solution.

Plus, many people are even reporting BETTER results than multiple different
medications. So if you suffer from any type of ache or pain, I suggest you give this
stuff a shot – I’m sure you’ll be happily surprised.

How do Athletes Improve Performance, Drugs? Mental Attitude? or Physical Balance?

I got this chat Question this morning and I wanted to share it with all of our Athletes with or without back pain…

As  you read through it, remember that core strength alone is not the answer… Athletes that do single sport activities are creating muscle imbalances everyday and that is not how world class athletes do it any more…
It takes education, I urge you to study the benefits of having a balanced body…

***Question***
I am an avid cyclist (50 – 100 mile rides) and am wondering if you have specific sport related stretches for cycling – for tight hip flexors, ITB etc.? I am currently experiencing some back pain that is getting better through chiro adjustments, but would like something to prevent future problems.

***Our Chat***
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Find a massage therapist that can do hip flexor release, it is not easily done by your self, it hurts but it will uninhabited your gluts and hamstrings and your performance will improve…
Visitor: So are you saying that your program would not benefit me?
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Sure it would but we also tell people that when you need specific work at a higher level of care we, seek help from the best experts you can, we also say you will need to do BOTH
Visitor: Ok, I guess after the hip flexor release, your program would help maintain flexibility? Does your program increase overall core strength and flexibility?
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Better,, we help you understand how to keep your body in balance from a strength vs strength perspective and a balanced body will make for a better athlete…
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: Does that make sense to you? How do you think as time goes on that the next generation of athletes can break world records year after year, I know it part drugs, part believe but also improvements in physical conditioning conditioning that not only creates core strength but does it in a balanced way…
Steven Hefferon “Co-Founder of the Healthy Back Institute”: The closer to prefect athletes become the better they perform, they learn to make them self the best they can be, through study and understanding core principle of preformance,  The closer to perfect they can make them selfs the better they will become, do you have to achieve perfection NO but as you study what it takes to get there and as you work towards it all things improve…
Visitor: Makes sense. How much for shipping to Dundas, ON L9H4E4?

What do your Eyes have to do with your Back Pain?

I got this question over the weekend and I just had to share the answer with you and please everyone feel free to comment on your own experiences… Did you see the position of your own head when assessing your photos… Was you shoulder level, was you heal level, were you eyes level?

Please read here email question first…

I read your long self explanatory article/research last night.  I found it quite interesting for a lay person as the team has explained it in a very simplified way.  Having read the long article last night I agree with you about the significance of the imbalance of muscles.

You say that there are 640 muscles in our body and each one has its impact on the spine.  I would like to ask you to explain to me how can the muscle of eye is related to imbalancing the spine.

My reply:

One consideration of many with the function of the eyes, is that when the body is out of balance and the shoulders are off and the head is tilted and the eyes are not level, for years on end the body accommodates to the positions and because we naturally use our eyes to help balances our self’s in our everyday life we will end up relying less and less on our muscles for stability.

Not that muscle of the eye are super strong but they do accommodate and help the body keep our balance and help us do physical things like walk or run even jump.

It is almost like our eyes help in such a what that we are cheating our self into thinking that we are fine and thus do not even know that we are lose muscle strength or it may feel like we have enough muscle strength and don’t need to strengthen our muscle, that is of course until it is to late…

But now take away the stability that our eyes and then add some physical pain and now you are challenged…

What everyone should understand is that our eyes can assist our bodies through our life’s as we are physical challenged with pain or physical trauma. Helping to keep our bodies balanced and stabile but over the long term you should not rely on your eyes to keep you that way, it is highly encouraged for you to keep physically balanced and if you want to get out of pain you will need to restore the strength in your muscles and we hope that you do it a in systematic way that not only restores strength but also restores balance to all muscle groups in your body.

As a test you can try standing in place with your eyes open and then with them closed…

And you tell me if your eyes play a roll in your balance…

Test the stability of your pelvis and find out why you have back pain…

OK, Take your right shoe off and walk around…

at first you will feel how different is it, now if you keep it offer of say and 1 to 2 minutes your body will accommodate to it and it will not feel quite so strange or even not so bad…

Now put your right shoe back on and take you left off do you fell it? and again 1 to 2 minutes latter how do you feel…

Now two questions?

1. Can you see how much stress your hips and back are going through if your pelvis is not level? Better asked can you see how much better it is to have a level pelvis…

2. When you switched shoes did you feel a difference?
Most people will feel good keeping there High Hip shoe on and feel much worse with high hip shoe off?

What did you Feel?

Do you think it would help you to get you pelvis to a more neutral more balances and more stable position so you can live your life with less or no pain?

P.S. If you are in great pain right now do not do this and if you are in high heels don’t do it until you are in something more stable…

***End of Email***

This was my reply…

There is noting wrong with trying different things and being open minded to experimenting with them..

Everything you have listed can help to some degree, but like anything you need to get to the root cause, and we believe that muscle imbalances are the root cause for most forms of back pain…

Once you get a better grip on the root cause everything else you try will give you a better result and even make you life a little easer…

So if you have tried everything and feel like nothing is going to work, think root cause levels, if you have our program “The Fibro Fix”, in it Dr Fors talks about addressing Fibromyalgia the the Mitochondria level, it does not get any more root level then that, and that is one reason people with Fibromyalgia struggle for so long, they are always nipping at the symptoms, and not addressing the important issues…

Let me give you one more example, my mother went more than a year being misdiagnosed regarding all of the symptoms she was experiencing, in the end she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, There are only two treatments for hyperthyroidism, Surgery to remove it or irritated iodine which destroys the Thyroid and then people have to be treated as if you were suffering from Hypothyroidism…

Do you know that the first thing the Dr asked that administered the irritated iodine?

Do you eat FISH? My mother loves fish but my father gets sick at even the smell so my mother has gone the last 40 years without fish…Fish is rich in Iodine and the Thyroid needs Iodine for healthy normal function.

Start today by giving you body what it needs and learn to address the Root Cause Issues early… to avoid the mess…

Why I like Inversion Therapy…

What condition are you suffering from?

It is amazing how my life experiences have brought me to where I’m now writing about how I healed myself some 20-plus years ago. Back then, I did not know what I was doing when I stumbled upon something that just happened to work. Today, inversion therapy can no longer be called an alternative treatment because it has been the subject of a great deal of clinical study. Inversion therapy has been proven to help relieve many forms of back and neck pain including the following:

  1. 1. Bulging Disc
  2. 2. Herniated Disc
  3. 3. Chronic Back Pain
  4. 4. Lower Back Pain
  5. 5. Neck Pain
  6. 6. Pulled Back Muscles
  7. 7. SI Joint Dysfunction
  8. 8. Facet Joint Dysfunction
  9. 9. Spondylolisthesis
  10. 10. Sciatica

Are Your Shoes Contributing To Your Back Pain?

I am always amazed when I see women wearing high heels…

How could you possibly put those things on, feel uncomfortable yet still walk around in them all day!

Well, the dangers of wearing “bad” shoes or shoes that just don’t fit your foot well is real. And guys, before you say this doesn’t apply to me, it does…

High heels aren’t the only types of shoes I’d classify as “bad”… many mens dress shoes are almost as horrible when it comes to what they do to feet.

As humans we tend to take our feet for granted and seriously neglect them. Your feet are critical to good biomechanics and overall health and fitness.

Think about it… your feet serve as the foundation for your body and even the slightest problem in the foot can throw your entire body out of whack.

We received many emails and letters from customers who have followed our advice and ditched the heels and dress shoes and that alone resulted in huge reductions in pain.

So whether you are a woman who feels pressured to wear high heels or a man who has to wear “dress” shoes, I urge you to think about how you are treating and caring for your feet… and find a better pair of shoes.

First off, they have to support and fit your foot well… they shouldn’t force your foot to fit the shoes, it’s got to be the other way around!

Second, they need to feel comfortable. If your feet feel tired after wearing them for just a few minutes, they are probably not a great choice.

And last, forget “fashion”! Who cares what the thing looks like if it’s not comfortable or worse, it’s ruining your feet. And whoever said high heels looked good any way – I think they look stupid!

But worse is what they do to the feet of women who wear them… take a look at these pictures:

high-heels2.jpg

high-heels.jpg

So does that make you want to wear some high heels? I hope not!

By the way, incase you missed it, last week I sent out an email about a new video we just added to the website. It’s about trigger points and if you haven’t already watched it, you can find it here:

Far too many people live with chronic pain. Whether western medicine has let them down or they’re just tired of having to take over the counter pain medication, a lasting and natural solution may be sitting on the dinner table right now.

An Aspirin a Day Keeps the… Doctor Here to Stay!

We received so much feedback in response to the email I sent recently about the passing of Tim Russert and heart disease that I thought you might find this article about asprin very informative.

I hope you enjoy the article…

An Aspirin a Day Keeps the… Doctor Here to Stay

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.

Each year, one million people suffer from a heart attack; and half of them die.

At least 600,000 Americans have a stroke, which is the third leading cause of death.

Aggressive attempts have been made throughout the years to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease, including the daily use of aspirin.

Aspirin therapy helps prevent blood platelets from sticking together and forming clots.

This, in turn, keeps blood thin and flowing more smoothly, thus lowering the risk of heart attacks and strokes. (Both are usually the result of a clot lodging in a narrowed artery and choking off the tissue’s blood supply.)

But there is a gray cloud inside this silver lining. Although aspirin appears as a simple over-the-counter treatment, it is in fact a drug that produces side effects-many of which can be severe.

Long-term aspirin use has been linked to cataracts, macular degeneration, kidney damage and peptic ulcers. Aspirin irritates and erodes the stomach lining and often leads to gastrointestinal bleeding. The chance of bleeding is even higher when aspirin is used in combination with other anti-inflammatory drugs.

In addition, aspirin therapy can cause bleeding in the brain, especially in elderly folks. Healthy people taking aspirin as a preventative measure to ward off stokes can also develop bleeding. Supposedly the occurrence is rare; nonetheless, the risk is still there.

As if that isn’t bad enough, research is now showing that many people are resistant to aspirin. That is, aspirin does nothing to protect them from heart attacks and strokes.

In fact, taking aspirin makes them more susceptible to both conditions. Apparently, the clotting ability of their blood is strong enough to prevent aspirin from doing its job. This action makes their situation worse and increases the likelihood of having a heart attack or stroke.

Some researchers suggest that any where from 20 to 49 percent of the population is aspirin-resistant. A recent analysis of 2,367 people found that 26 percent were resistant to the effects of aspirin.

Of these individuals, 33 percent suffered a heart attack, stroke or other health problem. Although it is not completely understood, resistance may be higher in men, diabetics, smokers, and those who have high blood pressure.

Unfortunately, many doctors continue to prescribe aspirin on a routine basis to their patients. As is often the case in our society, medication is thought to be the solution for all of our ills. Because every drug has side effects, they should be used very cautiously.

Also, one of the most effective blood thinners are proteolytic enzymes. Not only do they thin the blood naturally, but they also cleanse the blood of toxins, kill viruses and bacteria, eat away at excess fibrin (scar tissue) and reduce inflammation and pain.

You can learn more about proteolytic enzymes here.

Often times, there are other, safer ways of preventing disease or getting one’s health back. For example, exercising, eating right, and controlling stress greatly reduce the risk of heart disease.

Several studies have found that garlic as well as fish oil lowers cholesterol and thins the blood, protecting against clots. Antioxidants found naturally in fruits and vegetables help prevent everything from cancer to heart attacks.

Bromelain, a natural enzyme in pineapple, acts as an anti-inflammatory and also keeps plaques from developing in artery walls. Bromelain is just one of the 11 proven pain relievers that are found in “Heal-n-Soothe”. You can learn more about this all-natural anti-inflammatory here.

Eating small amounts of chocolate has even been associated with reducing heart disease risk. Research shows that cocoa beans contain natural plant chemicals that are good for blood flow.

However, milk chocolate contains considerably fewer of these chemicals, compared to dark chocolate. It contains a lot of added sugar as well. So look for bars with a minimum of 60 percent cocoa and not too much added sugar. Chocolate, of course, is high in calories, so go easy on your consumption.

Rub on Relief

While taking aspirin regularly may be beneficial for some people, it is not without risk. And in many cases, aspirin may do more harm than good.

All drugs have side effects, including over-the-counter medications, so their use should be carefully considered.

Healthy lifestyle habits and other natural remedies need be taken into account as alternatives to drugs whenever possible.

So, dump the aspirin and use the safer and proven alternatives.

Talk to you again soon…
