hi jj i was diagnosed with spondeothesis about 4 years ago i have since had a spinal fusion which is risky but in my case has given me more stability in my back, i have since had knee surgery and now have oestio arthritis in both my hands the knee surgery was a painful and slow recovery, still unsure if it has any benefit next step knee replacement. have decided for now not to have surgery on my hands as advised by doctor i just can't handle another operation at present i am trying diet changes and supplements i was really dedicated to exercise and have maintained a 30 kg drop in weight, i am now to scared to do any walking exercise and really want to do some form of activity but am unsure what to do the pool is definetly the best option i think and believe me i know what suffering you are enduring the doctors don't help much i used to google a lot to help understand what spondelithesis is. i am currently undergoing physio with my shoulder and it seems i'm always in pain and the future is a worry but i am still working and try to stay positive it's difficult at times but i'm a fighter and can't possibly bow down to anything which may be my undoing time will tell i guess. i'm terrified my hips will be my next problem as i have truoble sleeping but i dare not mention that to my doctor and in all reality he'll only put me on anti inflamatry's or refer me to surgeon, physio does help a lot. i do believe the exercises on this site help i just found the knee was to painful and i can't do squats so i gave up.

Re: Spondylitis

Hi JJ,

I dont have your condition and wasnt sure exactly what it is so I did a google search and it came up with quite a few sites that might help to explain the condition though your doctor should be able to give you specific advice on your condition and how it is affecting you.

How long have you been doing water therapy? Is it helping at all? Sometimes things may take a while to help us.

Could you get sometime with your doctor to go through your condition and all possible treatments with the pros and cons. I appreciate you may have tried this already, you need them to listen to your concerns.I have been known to write a list of questions/points I need to cover with my Dr so I get some focussed time to discuss things.

If you havent already read it this article explains more about the LTBP system for you.

Re: Spondylitis

Thanks Ann. Greatly appreciate your help.

Just wondering why noone from LTBP has ressponded. I can only assume this condition is not due to muscular imbalances so maybe im looking at the wrong site.

The water therapy helps temporarily but still have discomfort with most things.
