Corizone Injection
I am considering getting a cortisone injection in my restricting and at times painful sacroiliac joint!
I was once very fit and use to play a lot of sport but apparently have a condition called sacroiliac joint dysfunction.
Is there anybody out there who has had this done and if so did it help with the pain?
Are corizone injections helpful at all because ive done a lot of physical therapy and rehab with no success!
Any info would be much obliged!

Re: Corizone Injection
Hi John
As you are in the UK, try this device:
http://www.backchamp.com
If you get the LTBP system, Steve has some exercises that can help.
Also, contact Vickie Sims at www.sidysfunction.com
Give these guys a call:
http://www.solihullbackpainclinic.co.uk
They work with a lot UK sports teams e.g. soccer teams.
Let us know how you do.

Re;Cortizone
I'm not against cortizone in principle, but there can be side effects, including joint damage with long term use.
I would try some conservative methods first before going that route.
I was told by a very experienced doctor that I needed cortizone shots.
Actually I didn't. My right SI joint was out of position, and he failed to detect that.
Once it was put back, and I had work done on my iliacus muscle, it was much better.

Re: Corizone Injection
Hi Dave,
I also live in the UK and wanted to know how much you know about the back clinic you mentioned as I was interested in maybe vsiting them.(http://www.solihullbackpainclinic.co.uk).
If you know these guys personally I won't have any hesitation in visiting them as referrals is always the best option?
The last thing I want to do is vist some clinc and they mis-diagnose me and make my condition worse as I was horrified at reading your post about all the so called 'experts' who could not help you.
If you could help in anyway Dave that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Lak

Re: Corizone Injection
Hello Lak
Hello Lak
I've not actually visited them personally [ I'm not in the UK just now ] but called them over a year and a half ago, and was very impressed with their knowledge.
They treat a lot of professional soccer players, who are prone to this [ diving for the ball etc ].
I'd suggest you call them and have a chat.
Give the "Backchamp" people a call as well.
If you can, try to call Al Meilus on 1-727-547-1233 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-727-547-1233 end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-727-547-1233 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 1-727-547-1233 end_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting [ Florida ].
Al will talk to you for free [ he went through years of hell with a variety of conditions from vertigo to cancer to having a severe thoracic hump - all of which have been cured ].
Try to buy "The Better Back" by Dr. John Tanner.
Dave

Re: Corizone Injection
Thanks Dave,
I will be contacting them in due course to make an appointment. Would it be okay if I mention your name as a referrer?
I will also be contacting Al for a discussion.
Thanks,
Lak

Re: Corizone Injection
Hi Lak
Sure.
They might not remember me though as it was quite a while back.
Ask them about their sucesses and a list of testimonials.
Ask them if they have a former patient who would be willing to talk to you.
