bursitis, piriformis muscle
I have suffered with bursitis in my left hip for 14 years and have had physical therapy as well as a cortisone injection, none of which helped. Then my sciatic nerve started pinching in my left butt and the physical therapist thought that it ran through my piriformis muscle. I did buy LTBP system. I do have the forward tipped pelvis, I think the high hip on the R, and the forward head and shoulders. My question is which exercises do I start with? What would be the best to stretch first? My inclination is to do them all! but I know that wouldn't be wise. I have been doing the stretching the tight lower back (the seated forward bend and the full squat) and also the exercise that was on the internet of sitting in the chair and crossing the knee and leaning forward. It seems like when I try to do any of the strenthening glutes it pinches the sciatic nerve and is worse. I think I need all of the exercises for these issues from the assessment. My tensor fascia lata also is sore all the way down to my knee on the left. Is that tightness? I do feel that LTBP is my answer to all of my issues, I'm just now sure what to do first. Any advice?

Re: bursitis, piriformis muscle
Hi Carole,
When I started LTBP I determined I had a FTP and a HH. What I did was to take the FTP which seemed the most pronounced imbalance for me and to do the first one of the basic exercises. I did that for a day or two then built up to the other basic ones for the FTP. Then I introduced the basic ones for the HH while continuing with the FTP exercises and so on like that.
So I built up gradually. I knew my body would not take doing all the exercises at once as I was in pain and also had not done very much for months.
If you get pain during an exercise then just ease off on that one try another and experiment like that. Don't push yourself too hard, just stretch to your tolerance then relax. Do a little every day and gradually build up.
Take it nice and slow. Give your body time to adjust.
Hope that helps, let us know how you are getting on.
