Lose the Back Pain System
Can I get a bit of honest feedback about the lose the back pain system from anybody?
Thinking of purchasing it but have failed with everything else and don't have much confidence in anything any more.
Have had a bad back for 9 months and use to lead a very active lifestyle! Was playing a lot of sports in the hope of becoming a professional sports person but the back restriction I have has put a stop to that!
I think that muscle imbalances do play a big part in back pain and injuries. It is an interesting and different theory which I hope can help treat the problem of back pain!

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
LTBP system is very good. It helped me but also look at other things in additions to it. For me (I was in chronic pain 4 years with daily sciatica):
1 - LTBP
2 - Trigger Point Therapy (I used a foam roller and saw a therapist)
3 - Mind/Body Program like Dr. Sarno, Dr. Brady and/or Dr. Schubiner
**each person is different and i know many who heal just with LTBP
When I became chronic I had developed too many fears.....which became triggers for pain
sitting
sleeping positions
way i walked
shoes i wore
**pretty soon that is all i thought about 24/7
Have faith, do the work and keep experimenting

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
Great reply Paul...
While some people get complete relief with our LTBP system, for most, that's not enough... it's just the foundation.
And the reason many people who try other things like trigger point therapy, inversion, mind body, etc but don't get lasting relief is because while all of those treatments can be helpful, none of them address the muscle imbalances.
Addressing the imbalances is only 1 step in the process, but a very important one.
If you have any other questions at all please don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
So how do the exercises differ from the standard exerices that a Phyiotherapist will give you to build up your core strength?
I have a herniated disc at L4/5 and was told to do a lot of core strength building and swimming. Did a lot of this and it has only marginally relieved the symptoms.
Seen a specialist who says that my muscles are out of balance around my hips. What he told me is very similar to your muscle balance theory. He told me that I have a left leg that is longer than my right which is apparantly caused by my hips being miss aligned. He says I have Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction and gave me some exercises that are similiar to the Muscle Balance theory. I have been doing them for 6 weeks and at the start got excited cos the pain went away in one session but came back 15 minutes after I left. I Continue doing the exercises but have not been able to get rid of the pain again.
Am considering getting a cortizone injection because it irritates me a lot and don't feel I should be suffering from back problems at the age of 23.
Can you get a coritzone injection and still address the muscle balance theory or is it better to feel the pain whilst undertaking it?
Are strong core muscles still important in a healthy back? I hope so cos Ive done a lot of work in this area in the last 9 months?
Anyone have any answers to these questions?
I think the muscle balance theory could work, but do think it is important to be working on the right exercises! Most of my problems have been caused by too much physical activity and heavy lifting. My mates do a lot more heavy lifting than myself and they don't have back problems. It gets very frustrating!

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
Truth be told there are no magical exercise what differs between us and all other medical professional is that we have you look for your what are called postural dysfunctions which are caused by muscle imbalances.
an easy way to describe the importance of getting your pelvis back to a more neutral position and your spine back to a more neutral curvature is so that you can put excess stress on your body and minimize the wear and tear, if all of your joint were in a more neutral or more balances position you would be able to put more stress on them and not suffer so much...That is true for anyone.
Now one of the thing we stress to people is to stop doing the exercises you are currently doing till you identify your dysfunctions because you can be making your condition and imbalances worse...by continuing to strengthening a muscle group that is already to string and pulling your body our of balance.
Let me make up another story, lets assume your body was perfect and you could do anything physical you wanted run as fast as any one, jump as high as anyone, lift lift as much as anyone...
Now let assume your body is bent over, rotated, tight, weak and stiff. Now everything you want to do is limited...
If you had to choose which body you would want of course you would choose the perfect body but how do you thing that body go to be that way, lets just say for sake of argument 50% is genetics and out of your control and 50% is effort with in your control?
Now if you are plagued with the bent over, rotated, tight, weak and stiff body and again for the sake of argument 50% of your current situation is genetic (out of your control and 50% is all the reasons with in your control...
How much of that 50% within your control are you going to put to work, education, experimenting, doing, trying something new, seeking help, doing it again and again even after things do not go your way.
Sometimes the things that are within our control are enough if we can see the possibility...
easy preaching makes for hard living, right, but the struggle will make you stronger ask anyone who is now in the other side.
If you are not ready to do anything physical yet just take the next week and read everything you can and then go and find a quite place and ask your self,
What is the best path for me? and let you intuition guide you to a plan or course that is best for you and one that you are likely to follow through with.

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
Thanks for the reply!
Have had some success with the muscle balance exercises for the si joint. May have damaged my disc again though, through doing too much because I thought i was fixed.
Will continue to do my research and have not given up hope of one day waking up with no pain and restriction!

Re: Lose the Back Pain System
I was sceptical at first. I bought the system under a free trial period this past fall. I figured I would return it and nothing lost. I have mild L5-L4 and S-1 pain. I am in good shape, as I work out 3-4 times a week and used to lift heavy in my younger years...hence the problem.
With doing crunches, of all sorts, bends and the standard ab routine, I had sever imbalances, along with great tightness. Within a week of doing about a dozen stretches, I noticed great results. I actually noticed comfort the first day. Now the pain was still there, but the major discomfort I was going through was greatly reduced.
I continue with the program with ongoing success. I think the system has done wonders for me and I ended up keeping the program and use it several times a week.
Hope this helps.

I didn't actually use the LTBP system to get well [ 12mm herniated disk, dislocated SI joint, degenerated disks ] due to the fact that I hadn't heard about it at the time, but perform the stretches in the LTBP book every day to prevent problems from coming back.
It is a well thought out system.
I am writing some postings on this website called "How your back works".
You might want to read this, as I'm going to cover how the LTBP system, Dr. Sarno's system, chiropractic, decompression etc work. I'll also be covering why some don't give the same results as others in certain circumstances.
