Driving and Sciatica
I have been suffering from Sciatic pain for two years. I have found that the pain is mose pronounced after sitting or lying for long periods. I have an hour commute both ways to work, which no doubt is attributing to my right high hip disfunction. Is there anything I can do while driving to help ease the pain?

Re: Driving and Sciatica
Hi Crystal,
I feel for you , driving was a difficulty for me also when I had severe sciatica.
What I found helped was to use heat on my back while driving-I used a heat pad you can buy. I also use a lumbar support cushion which I find helps me.
I also tried not to drive for more than 30 mins without a break. If you can stop, get out and do a few of the standing stretches - you may find that helpful. If you cannot then try to do your stretches before and after you drive, I found that helped too. I assume as you mentioned a HH that you already have the LTBP system?
I havent tried it yet but you may like to look into the Backjoy they sell here as well to see if you think that might help you.
Other people may have tips which worked for them as well.
Wishing you all the best.

Crystal
Many people develop sciatica when driving as a result of having one leg slightly bent outwards.
Over time this causes certain muscles to tighten, causing imbalances.
Have a look at your feet when you are driving, are they both exactly parallel or is one sort of "resting" and "twisted" to the side ?
