Excited about progress
Well I've received my LTBP and did my assessment and have Front tilted Hip and FHS. I've only done the exercises about 3 times and used the inversion table 3 times even though it hurts my thoracic area. I can really feel it stretching and opening up my ribcage area. I haven't been able to lay flat on my back or stomach in years because of boring pain in my lower thoracic. After about 7 minutes I have to change position. I thought I'd experiment and layed flat on my floor and time it and I was able to lay there for about 17 minutes without excurciating pain. A little uncomfortableness but MUCH better. I'm so excited and this is so motivating to continue on with my exercises. My back is hurting a little now from doing that Ha! watch, I'll probably regret this in about an hour. :)). One thing that is very weird is on the second day I did the exercises my heel got slightly swollen on the bottom and pain went up toward my toes on the outside of my foot. Very painful and I still can't walk on it. Also the muscle to the right of my shin. That is hurting alot too. I haven't done anything to hurt it and was wondering if I could have overdone it with the hamstring exercises. Could that cause this pain? Thanks for your thoughts, Debbie

Re: Excited about progress
Hi Debbie
Really pleased your experiencing relief so soon, keep up the good work.
I'm guessing the pain in the foot, the outside of the shin, could becoming from the Inversion, if you think about it, your hanging from your ankles, and if the surrounding muscles of the shin are tight, then if you invert too much too soon, and for too long, then this can cause problems.
How long are you inverting for?
Are you doing full inversion? If so maybe try reducing the angle, and gradually progress to full inversion over time.

Re: Excited about progress
Dan, I thought it might be the inversion table for the exact same reason. I only inversion a little over 45 degree and when I did the last time I made a point of seeing if it was pulling on my legs and suprisingly I did not feel that. Unless it is doing it without my being aware. I am going to stop my hamstring excersises today. Last night trying to sleep was very bad, like a stabbing in my muscle, really kept me up. I saw the sleep aids that the Back Institute offers, have any of you tried them and how were the results? Have a good day all, Debbie

Re: Excited about progress
Hi Debbie,
The Hamstrings should not affect your calves really Debbie, they target the back of the thighs. But as my Egoscue Practioner says, he is never surprised how each individual responds to a particular exercise, we are all individuals and one small thing can alter what one person feel during an exercise and what another person will feel.

Re: Excited about progress
If it is one of the deep adductors which wraps around to the back of the hamstring it can effect the calf since the tibila nerve passes through there.
