Lower back and right leg pain to the calf.
Hello, I had a surgery in late Feb. of 05 for a L4,L5 herniated disc. I was pain free for about 10 weeks and the pain returned. It comes and goes but when it is present and at a midland to its worst, I am for the most part bed bound and unable to do anything that requires being out of the bed for more than a few minutes at a time. I had another MRI but as luck would have it I wasnt in pain when the doctors had time for the MRI so the surgeon basically said what he did looks fine and good luck to me. I have since lost my job because of it, I have a 1,000 dollar chiro bill that helped me none at all. I dont take pain meds, none that I have tried have ever worked anyway plus I have no insurance anymore. I just found this website today and it seems like someone trying to make some money just like most others are. Can anyone offer any suggestions or give any comments on the info that this site offers. I would be thankful for any help.

Hi Eric
I just found this website a few minutes ago, so unfortunately can't help you, but thought I would write to you anyway to let you know how sorry I am that you are having such a hard time with drs, jobs and money or lack thereof. I gather from your letter that you live in the States, and it must cost a lot of money to get medical help. I am glad that I live in Canada, at least everything is covered. I have to go and see a neurosurgeon because of bulging discs at L4 and L5, and your letter has me worried now. Obviously your surgery was not a success, and I feel bad for you. I was hoping that if I had surgery it would help, but I guess it does for some but not for all.
I hope you get the help you so badly need. My prayers go out for you.

Re: Lower back and right leg pain to the calf.
I'm horrified when I hear of thea going for surgery too!! It's not too late Eric to take things into your own hands. I have bulging discs but I have found the cause and it is that I have to correct!! I should be working for Steve!! I am waiting for the program and IF it doesn't work and I see no reason why it shouldn't I will find another way.
I have severe spinal stenosis but while I wait for the program I have found help through people at the gym, who are helping me correct my hyperextension of the back. The minute I tilt my pelvis forward and maintain a NATURAL arch in my back by pulling in my tummy button I feel the pain easing away. I have to find a way to KEEP it stable, which is a challenge but with Steves help I hope I can do it. I have to!! Best of luck and don't give up hope, take the problem into your own hands and it will cost you less and be successfull!!

Hello, I must say I'm glad I found this web site. There were some interest things that caught my attention. I was involved in an 18- wheeler accident and I was diagnose with L4-5 and C4-5,C5-6,C6-7 including T2 bulge disc. I've had steriod injection over a period of time as well as epidural injection(which is a nerve blocker) no outcome. Until I had surgery perform, The Doctor had too laser the disc down in order not to touch the nerve. What a relief. My prayers are with you all who deal with such great pain. never give up the search for help.

Hi to All
I have been reading the replies to Eric's and my post and am so glad to hear that some of you are doing better.
I was just diagnosed with more bulging discs in my neck. That accounts for all the migraines I have been having. Unfortunately I have to wait until May to see the neurosurgeon, so, until then, I have no idea what they are going to be able to do for me.
I am hoping that whatever they do will help. I am having tons of problems with falling down and migraines. I really hope they don't just say "I'm sorry, we can't help you."

Re: Lower back and right leg pain to the calf.
Hi Thea,
I'm sorry you are having such bad news. Have you seen other health professionals ie osteopath or chiro, or physio, only my humble opinion but you will hear it over and over, a surgeon is the last resort.
I'm still working to find ways to relieve pain from lumbar bulges and in the process i have found out that my cervical spine too is in worse nick!! But I have also realised that at our age we probably ALL have bulges--- some with NO symptoms. The medical profession do not have the answers you only have to read of the dissapointments on this forum. Have you tried Steves excercise program, I am getting relief from the stretches and I guess long term the excercises will help me but I have to continue to be positive while searching out the answers. NO WAY am I giving my power over to a surgeon, what happens when in 2 years time its back where it started-- in pain, what then? drugs and more drugs.
A GOOD chiropractor or osteopath would be able to help with your migraines. Sorry if I sound like a know all!! why not try Steves program, its only 60 odd $ and could save you the surgeons bills. Even if you only pick up one or two things of help everywhere you go you are able to use these things to your advantage and one day you will find the thing you need and for everyone that could be something different. Happy learning.

Leonie,
I was encouraged by your account of how you relieved pain from spinal stenosis and sciatica. Thanks for posting. I immediately tried tilting the pelvis forward and pulling in the belly button. I did experience relief from the back pain. Let me know what else you have done. I am hoping Steve's program will help.
