It really depends... we suggest most people start out slow, meaning a minute or two (maybe less) and not complete inversion...
Then gradually build yourself up to more time and work towards full inversion...
Like everything... "it's all an experiment" and you have to really listen to your body.

I just do a 3/5 minutes most evenings but not complete inversion as i find it a little uncomfortable.

I find that more than 3-5 mins can be a bit much for some people. As I always say, experiment.
For me, whenever I invert, it's full inversion for 3-5 mins and I tend to do it only occasionally, kind of on as needed basis... whenever I feel tight or have not stretched enough or consistently.

I have a hyatica hernia, and I have heard inversion cannot be used with this injury. I really want to try it.

I usually go for 15 to 20 minutes at 30 degree inversion and it works fine for me.
