I can't stand it anymore
Help me please. Sciatica right down to my toes, which arch sometimes with the cramp. The pain is agony and it quite often makes me cry. It started when I got up from chair and heard a loud click in my buttock and it felt light something had dropped. I have had numerous medication, too painful for physiotherapy, have to wait till late October for hospital visit. My life is at a standstill, I am now almost bedridden, but I do get up to get my body on the move. After 10 minutes the pain becomes unbearable. I feel I have done some damage to bone in hip or pelvis and this is pressing on the sciatic nerve. You think the NHS is good but this is really disgusting to keep me waiting this long. I may pay for a private scan or just go to A&E. Any suggestions.

Hi Roundhouse,
My heart goes out to you.
Have you tried heat or cold on it. I have a heatpad on mine when I get up, but sometimes cold helps.
Are you on medication? I ended up at A&E when mine was really bad, and they put me on some stronger medication. I still get pain, but more managable.
All the best.
Hazel.

Re: I can't stand it anymore
Moved about on crutches today not to put to much pressure on leg. Not too bad although pain starting tonight. Warmth seems to make it worse, had a bath and it was worse it had ever been. Cold seems not to work because of the bad cramps. Medication, Pregagabilin 150mg, diazapan 6mg per day, ibuprofen 400mg 3 times a day and dihydrocodeine 30mg 3 a day. Pain seems to have eased off slightly with rest. Will try to rest a bit more tomorrow and do some more walking. Waiting for hospital appointment, been told first appointment to arise from numerous clinics in my area so should not be too long. This is the worse pain I have ever had, I will never moan about anything ever again

Re: I can't stand it anymore
I know where you are coming from. I have been laid up in bed in the past anywhere from 2 weeks to 5 months. I went to a chiropractor for months to get rid of the pain - didn't work. The chiropractor recommended an inversion table, about the same time I found Lose the Back Pain website. Since I purchased an inversion table I haven't been back to the chiropractor. Every time my sciatica starts acting up I go to the inversion table and often in between. I don't completely invert. I have heard my vertebrae's snap back into place while on the machine and feeling instant relief.
The easy exercises for sciatica from Lose the Back Pain work great also. They are simple, just take it easy, don't over stretch. Heat or cold didn't seem to do me any good - hurt no matter what. Oh yes, no caffeine - If I drink a large soda I feel my sciatica starting to hurt within minutes and gets worse the more caffeine I drink. Drink lots of water - it really helps. I also got the sciatic seat which I use religiously in my vehicle and at the computer. I've also noticed extra weight doesn't help at all.

Re: I can't stand it anymore
hi,
have a laugh but have you tried music.
i have had backpain for 5 years and until i started
meditation, i had no clue that it started because i
didnt know how to handle stress.
mostly i would drink or smoke before.
now magic has happened.
the trick is to listen to your body.
it wont speak english like the mind does
but it speaks in little vibrations, faint movements
of the blood running thru the veins, and muscles
and nerves all vibrate faintly and you make take
time tofind some quite place to listen to
these or rather feel this new language of miniature
vibrations.
make it a practice.
take time every now and then.
slowly as time passes, you will learn
the body language like we all learnt english as kids
now step 2.
save some classical music, soft flute, solo is
better. save it on your mobile phone so it goes with
you always. indian classical music , flute works for
me.
play the music while listening to your body.
slowly and within minutes you will slow down
breathing. long deep breaths will automatically
happen. the mind is pleased now.
you may feel everything softening up.
say bye bye to the stored stress .
within a week, see the difference.
i discovered this and love this.
would like to say good luck although
no luck is involved.
anyway good luck.
