I find hot tubs help
Hi
I have lower back pain and Raynauds (joint pain). I clean holiday properties and find that I have a lot of pain after I have finished cleaning, however if I jump in the garden hot tub afterwards (the owners dont mind!) this really helps relieve the joint and back pain.
Has anyone else found this helps? or is it just me?
Sandra

Re: I find hot tubs help
Hi Sandra
When I used to go gym, before my back & hip got really bad, I used to use the hot tub after a workout, and I used to love it, it was only a temporary relief though. I think this is due to the skin getting heated, like any other type of heating device for the back.
What happens is that the nerve endings sense the heat and it sends the signals back to the brain through the CNS, and because there is more nerve endings receiving the heat, this overrides the signals being sent to the brain regarding the pain!!
Have you ever had back pain and then injured another part of your body, or even stubbed your toe on a piece of furniture, WAALA!! No back pain....LOL
Although I wouldn't suggest injuring yourself on purpose to relief your back pain!!
On another note, because your getting to use the hot tub for free, that's prob why it makes it feel so much better!!

Hi Sandra,
No its not just you !
I have also found Hot tubs really helpful to me, especially at first when I really couldnt move around too much and it gave me a degree of pain relief that was most welcome! In fact for me any kind of heat was a relief but I do like being in the water
Now my back and sciatic pain is pretty much gone I still like to go into the hot tub at the gym for relaxation.

Hi
Yes I think the general heat here in Andalucia, we enjoy temperatures of 70 degrees even in the Winter, we almost never get frosts (in the area we live in - Alhaurin el Grande) and of course the hot tubs have all helped with my joint pains from my Raynauds and my back ache.
Although I have to agree there is a general feel good factor when the sunshines and its warm!!

Hi Sandra
First thing you need to do is to get an evaluation of your postural dysfunctions [ how you stand basically ] and muscular imbalances [ which muscles are tighter than others basically ].
The tub only gives you short term relief due to increased blood flow to the tight areas.
Suggest you try the LTBP system.
Most important _ have the photos taken as they request, so that the LTBP people can tell you what problems you have - high hip etc.
Good Luck
