Re: just cant get muscles to relax
Hi Gary
You won't be able to release the muscles until you get rid of the knots/trigger points in them.
For example if you take a rope and tie a knot in it, it becomes shorter, then if you try and stretch the rope you will tighten the knot further!!
This is the same for say your hamstrings, if you have knots in your hamstrings and you try and stretch then you will just tighten the muscle further.
Research Trigger points on the net, and start using a tennis ball/rubber ball on the tight muscles, you will know when you hit a trigger point, because it is very tender, almost like a bruised feeling, once you have worked on the trigger points for that muscle then stretch it straight away.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Dan :)

Re: just cant get muscles to relax
Hay Dan, thanks for the lesson, let me add a few more points...
like anything, the solution is to find the imbalances is your life, in the case of tight muscles, trigger points have to be the first thought, so I just wanted to give you a great article that visually shows what a trigger point is...
http://learnmuscles.com/mtj%20TrP%20article%20-%201-08.pdf
Now looking at that you see that "Ca" or calcium is the reason why the muscle fibers are stuck, well then knowing that you have excess calcium your next step is to think about the foods and supplements that you eat and take that have Calcium and Reduce them...
Next know that you are also deficient in other nutrients like Vitamin D3 and almost everyone is, so you need to supplement with D3 Life Extension Foundation in there latest issue has some startling findings about vitamin D3 levels, and has suggested that people up their D3 level to 50ng/ml and to get your levels up there they suggest that you take 5000IUs to 8000IUs per day and Dr. Cannell has indicated that taking up to 10,000 IUs per day is not toxic...
One little issue do not take Vitamin A and D together, they both share the same receptor site on the cell and Vitamin A interrupts the absorption of Vitamin D3... So take your one a day and D3 hours apart
vitamin K is also need to have Calcium do its job and minimize excess calcium, in your system and then end up making two muscle fibers get stuck together.
and then all the trace minerals like Mag, Zink and Boron just to name a few...
So I take everyday like clock work...
10,000 IUs per day of D3
400Mg of Mag citrate
15mg of zinc
And for anyone with Stenosis the above applies...
Remember, with out D3 and K and all the trace minerals calcium will plop it self were ever it likes, mostly gallstones, heal spurs, stenosis, UTIs from ridge bladders that can not empty all the way, Trigger Points and the list goes on...
Hope this helps
Steve

Re: just cant get muscles to relax
In my case treating the trigger points is only treating the symptom. You need to treat both the symptom and the cause. If your using the system you should have sorted out any postural shifts you need to make or and strength imbalances you need to bring up. Basically if one part doesnt work properly due to knots (trigger points) or a strength imbalance, the body compensates by over working other muscles. . I could only suggest going through the questionare again or get someone else to check for you. Also consider the exercising you do, and how you sit stand and walk.
Im getting some systematic enzymes which I hope will help get rid of the scar tissue I have, and the pain in my muscles, and chronic muscle tighness. I recommend you look into them. The web site offers them but I bought a competitors product due to price and it did get some positive reviews. If it doesnt work i'll try the ones the web site offers.
I think for muscle soreness use a foam roller, work on posture and strength balance, maybe balance training. Make sure your pelvis is in check, make sure hams, glutes and lower abs arnt weak. Stretch, its individual as you know and depends on your condition like where your possibly tight or weaker or what activities your doing that may not be helping it. Light exercise is good and sometimes its best to take a break off the sport you love until you have sorted out your bodies disfunction. Diet I believe is very important and that will help, along with water. Trigger points (knots) are actually toxins I hear.
In my opinion muscles should NOT be very tight even after fairly intense exercise. I believe there must be a disfunction if there is excessive tightness and pain and painful trigger points. You need to treat those trigger points, but you more importantly need to find why the muscles are getting tight. And thats because of a strength muscle imbalance or being unconditioned. Im working on my core and it has helped me enormously in a few days along with this program with iv noticed a big improvement with my posture on the bike.
