Just starting program.
After two weeks of horrible pain, that remained untouched by NSAIDS, hydrocodone and muscle relaxants, I had an MRI done and the report states:
"There are disk and bony degenerative changes with a 6 mm herniated nucleus pulposus posterorly on the left at the C6/7 level, which leads to impingement of the thecal sac and deformity of the left C7 nerve root. There is mild bulging of the annulus at C5/6."
GP referred me to a neurosurgeon (that appointment isn't until the end of July - so I have a month). My neurologist (who is dealing with my migraine issue) was unimpressed, and nerve conduction studies were normal even though I have a fair amount of weakness in my left arm. The Physical Therapist says it's 50/50.
I would like to avoid surgery. I ordered LTBP, and did partial self-assessments. From visual only, I have both the forward neck and the High Hip (right side is high).
I ordered the Heal-n-Soothe today, because the prescription stuff doesn't provide significant relief, and I'm tired of being zombified. I started the forward neck exercises yesterday.
Do I need to address both issues simultaneously? Can I wait until I get some relief of the neck/shoulder/arm pain before I start the HH program?
I do inversion at PT, as well as massage, trigger point, TENS, and some exercises.
I just want to avoid surgery. After dealing with horrible TMJ issues last summer (and the TMJ dentist, who is a holistic practitioner acknowledged that getting my jaw balanced might be causing some of the neck issues), I really want to make this go away as quickly as possible.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Just starting program.
Hi Marge,
Sorry to hear you are in pain. I admire you taking steps to do what you can to help yourself.
If you are doing the exercises only do them to your tolerance and go slow and steady, I always found after a bath or shower a little easier when i was in a lot of pain. Just start with one or two then build up.
I had FTP and HH and I started out doing the exercises for FTP as that was my main issue, then when I felt more comfortable and had built up to more exercises on that I incorporated the HH exercises. However some people may well work on both together.
You may be best to e mail Steve support[at]losethebackpain.com with your self assessments and question as well as he may have more advise for you.
Wishing you all the best

Re: Just starting program.
Thank you. I never saw the FAQs link. Computer time is hard for me (need to figure out how to do it standing up, I think), so I just printed all the information and then listened to the audio and watched the video.
Hopefully my husband will be able to take the photos for me tonight so I can finish the assessment.
For the record, the exercises for the FN seem to be helping, at least in terms of getting me mobile in the morning. I do them shortly after getting out of bed, and it really improves my mobility.
Sorry I'm anxious. I don't like taking the meds, and I'm not used to being restricted in my activities - so I'm being a little bit of a brat, I suspect.
