Post-Surgical and Post-Rehab Back Therapy
Hi -
I had back surgery on my L5 this past Thanksgiving, and have recovered only somewhat well. I am still having back pain, sometimes still hindering me from going to work. I have done all the therapy required and continue to do the exercises everyday, but am still having relatively sever pain, that is debilitating.
What do you recommend to do for post-surgical, post-rehab strengthening? My body has turned to flab and I have gained weight and every time I try to get out of the cycle, the pain sucks me back in.
Thanks for your advice!

If you in really bad shape you could try a sauna. They raise your metabolism and the heat relaxes muscles and improves circulation.
Some people recommend swimming. I do 30-50 deep knee bends. Also upper body work like 20-30 lat pull-downs. These decompress the spine and can help with some types of back pain. Or knock off 40-50 girlie pushups on your knees. It's the high rep's to get the heart and blood going that you are after, not strength.
