sciatic pain, can it be caused by the chiropractor
I have been going to the chiropractor for about 3 weeks now. It has done wonders for me, but a day after my last visit i noticed a pain in my buttock where my sciatic nerve is. Could that be caused by being corrected?

It sure can, but there's no real way to know for sure. One thing you certainly will want to do is see how your body responds next time (if you go back).
One question though, have you identified your muscle imbalances?
Reason I ask is, if you have not, it is very likely that some of what you are doing as far as treatments may be making things worse or creating a new "condition" or dysfunction.
If you haven't already, be sure to watch my "Why You're Still in Pain" videos... it's 3 short videos that address the most important aspects of a successful treatment plan.

Re: sciatic pain, can it be caused by the chiropractor
Ten years ago my chiropractor recommended a deep massage by their in house massage practitioner. She hit my sciatica nerve at my belt level and it hurt. Two days later she did it again, this time it hurt worse. A week later I was in excruciating pain and I was laid up for the next five months. My wife does deep massage and I won't let her touch the spot on my back.

Ron-
Near the belt level is usually the Gluteus Minimus/Medius area which is known as the "Great Mimicker". This mimics sciatic pain and is a reason many times Disc surgeries are unsuccessful. This little muscle (the minimus) which lies under the medius is a stabilizer but on many people is hypertonic. When it is angry it causes pseudo-sciatica, which feels exactly like sciatica but it is not from compression at a disc level. I have felt that same pain. When they are massaging that area it should not be done with a trigger point compression and held until the referred symptoms get relieved.
The only chiropractors I ever go to now are the ones certified in Active Release Technique (ART) and/or have a kineseology backround. I do not believe in the adjustments but ART worked wonders to break up my adductor scar tissue.

Jray-
That area is very tender where all the hamstrings attach to the ischeal tuberosity. It is very very tender to begin with when someone has anterior tilted pelvis because the pelvis in the back is tipped up and this tightens the hamstrings from the behind the knee to this attachment site. When you are on the table it is a little more relaxed....the DC gets in there where it is tender to begin with and when you get up again it becomes tight again in addition to the tenderness of the area.
This is a problem for many of us. The only real way to solve it is getting the imbalances corrected and get to neutral pelvis.
