Had 360 global fusion 2 years ago after first having three discectomy procedures each of which made the pain worse. I was at a point where I was crawling up the stairs and bending over at a 45° angle over a walker. My surgeon then referred me to a doctor at the University locally who attempted a fusion but failed (interestingly he told me that a year and a half out that the surgery was successful). I knew it wasn't because there was still serious pain. I self referred myself a doctor in California who did a global procedure (a pelvic incision with ALIF and a posterior incision with the removal of the hardware and replacement of new hardware on both side. Incidentally the lesion with a herniated disc was located at L45 on the left side. The first fusion surgeon operated on the left side and interestingly the symptoms shifted from left to right. In other words the symptom were identical now on right. Long story short he corrected 90% of the pain. I did fairly well with only minimal discomforted and then one month ago I decided to try golf again. I could find not one warning in Internet about this. Now my wife threatens to leave me if I do not get well soon so that we can travel together. I have terrible pain in the sacral area every morning. Several golf professionals told me that they would have recommended golf earlier than I actually did it. Do I have spinal stenosis? That's what the x-ray shows. Would further surgery be helpful.
