Suffering from a bad Colon!? I'm sure it's my trapped nerve!!!
I have suffered terribly with bowel problems. I’m 33yrs, not overweight and live a healthy life. I suffer from bulging discs in my lower back for years now, on and off. What I’ve noticed is that every time I have bad back pain it is (usually) accompanied with my bowel problems! For years I thought this myself but never actually knew it has been proven. I have just read that they are related. I’m fascinated by the link (between bowel health and trapped nerves in the spine) and would be so happy if I thought that I could get rid of two (seriously bad) problems, just by addressing one (my back!)! !! Can anyone tell me more or direct me to where I can get more info. Dec k, Ireland

Declan
I'm sending you contact information for a person who has gone though something similar to you.
He managed to "fix" himself.
Very often, often these problems are not with the colon itself, but rather with the muscles surrounding it being too tight, hence reducing proper blood flow to the area, as well as pressing against the organs.
He has an almost 100% success rate in treating acid refux without surgery or drugs.
He should be able to give you good advice.
If you have an MRI, send it to him.
Look in your spam folder in case you don't see my e-mail.
I've started a tutorial series called "How your back works" on this site. You may find it interesting.
At the nend of it, I'll let people know how I managed to fix a herniated disk, two degenerated disks and a dislocated SI joint.
Good Luck
Dave

Re: Suffering from a bad Colon!? I'm sure it's my trapped nerve!!!
Dave,
Thanks so much for your reply and email. I will definitely be contacting him. I will also let you know how I get on. At the moment I have terrible Sciatic pain down my left side, and, not surprisingly, terrible bowel problems.
To give you a bit of background, (and indeed anyone else who may find that they are suffering from colon problems – I hope this will be of some help). I have suffered from what “they” call Chronic Colitis, where the lining of my bowel breaks down and in turn the white blood cells start to attack my “good” bacteria within my bowel. This in turn leads to loads of blood loss, constipation… and a lot of frowning!! I know that’s a very simplistic description of a probably much more complex problem but that’s my take on it.
I run, go to the gym and eat well (mostly on account of being aware that I have to keep on top of the bowel issue).
I also have terrible back trouble (generally left side), not all the time, but when it does go I literally cannot walk, crawling around the house on all fours. I have spent so much money and have travelled up and down the length of the country trying everything from doctors, pain killers, chiropractors, physiotherapists.. the works for years. I find that chiropractors have helped me the best, but I agree it should be more than a “bone workout” and that the muscle should be worked also as I feel it plays a huge role in the structure of the back.
My Bowel problems can flare up whenever I have a lot of stress, be it work family etc., but what I’ve be noticing the last while is that every time my bowel is acting up (and I’m not stressed – at least I’m not aware that I’m stressed!) I generally have back problems (and I suppose visa versa). I have only recently started to look this up for myself, as it was just an observation of my own. To find out (only yesterday) that there is actually a link between bowel problems and back pain honestly knocked me for six. It has also given me great hope as to be honest bowel problems can really get a person down. I would be generally be a happy person willing to have a joke, but whenever my bowel is bad it really effects life in a big way, the constant pain is by no means funny!
I am just about to try the “lose the back pain” programme and I have great faith, mostly because I feel at last somebody has started to pay attention to the muscle (tension lines to your bridge). I hope it works!! From here on I’m going to look into researching my bowel problem also, not as a stand alone issue but to view it as something that can cause back pain, or indeed, back pain cause bowel pain!
Anything I find I will share on this discussion board. I’m so glad I found this. Reading some of the issues that other people puts my problems into perspective. I will ensure to share all my findings.
Thanks once again Dave, I can’t tell you how much your help is appreciated.

Hi,
I am so glad to hear that someone else has the same question, about the possibility of a connection between bowel problems and herniated discs.
I also have noticed that when my back pain is bad (which is every day) i have severe bowel problems.
I am afraid to leave the house at times.
I ordered the online version of this program yesterday.I know i am going to have to take things slow at first. The pain is awful and i can hardly move.
I have tried everything you can think of,to ease the pain and have had no success.
I am 62 years old and was very athletic when i was growing up in Scotland,(sounds crazy but i used to try to beat the double decker buses before they got to my house).
Anyway i am excited about this program and hope that it will help.
If you have any information on a possible back, bowel, connection.i would appreciate hearing about it.Janet

One challenge, I see with a lot and I do mean a lot of customer is the distended belly, and I do not mean to say that any one is FAT because, they are not, its GAS, and no amount of abdominal exercise in the world will be able to over come the outward pushing forces of your intestinal gas, you have to find a way to control it and maintain it… if you ever want to get you pelvis back to a more neutral position.
I have outlined some tips for anyone to try in one of my most popular articles, you can read it below...

including the lose the back pain program with no success, the doctors say I may have trapped nerves but they are not sure and dont know what is causing my problems.

Hi Dave,
I'd be interested in that advice. I have an abnormal SI joint, ischial bursitis with hamstring attachment and sciatic nerve complications, possible adhesive arachnoiditis and terrible back spasming. After three years of physio, chiro, exercises and injections, I am keen to find real relief from this.
Many thanks for any contacts/links/advice you can give.

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems and pain Declan. Have you read about adhesive arachnoiditis? If you've ever had a myelogram or spinal injections, it could explain your symptoms, although I hope it's not! Good luck.
