Long story short. I had L3-L4 distectomy in 2000. It was a must because I could hardly walk. Have had back pain continually since, but not dabilitating. The last year it has been getting worse. Since October of 2010, I have lost work, and have been in pain since.
I am getting, what I call nerve pains. Sometimes, as recent as yesterday, I had nauseu and stared sweating with dizziness. My MRI does show a herniated disc. I am in the process of switching my diet, ice, and I ordered the videos.
This also affects my mind. I am not very fun to be around, so I isolate myself. I used to be a very optimistic person, but after 20 years of suffering, its hard, so I figure a drastic change is due.
And the kicker, I now sit all day at an office job, which I love, but in 1984-85, I spent 13 months in 2 different military hospitals with pilonidal cysts ( extremely bad). Since they cut so much tissue, ( scar is 15 CM long and 3 CM wide from 6 surgeries) I dont have a lot of tissue separated my tissue from the chair. My scar gets painful also.
I am hoping this new approach will help.

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the forum. How are you doing today?
Have you got the lose the back pain videos yet? I would advise you when you get them to read everything through and do all the assessments carefully/take your photos then send them in so that they can help and advise you better. I found them very helpful and the system helped me such a lot.
You are clearly going through a lot and people here will understand. It is good that you are taking charge. Diet is important and do try different pain relief methods. I personally found heat on my back better than ice but do whatever helps you.
I can see why sitting is difficult. Is it possible for you to use a cushion to ease it for you? Maybe if you can, not to sit for too long at a time? I do understand to some degree the sitting issue, mine was due to sciatic and back pain. I used to not be able to sit for more than 30 mins before I simply had to get up and walk around.
Back pain can be really draining and can really take its toll on you. I certainly experienced that feeling too at times in my back and sciatic pain. However, its great that you are taking charge and wanting change. Good on you !
I sincerley hope that the system will help you and also do have a browse around the main site. There are very many articles, videos and audios with really great useful information. I am sure some of it will be very useful for you.
Anyway you take good care and let us know how you get on.
