Trying to do the Self-Assessment
Hi, I bought this system and did the review of the 4 types. I'm thinking I have 2. My problem is that I have been in extremely bad pain and for the 2 days since I did the test exercises, my pain has grown pretty significantly. I've been experiencing new areas of pain. I'm thinking it might be because I've been basically non active for months? Is it normal? What if my medical drs have mis diagnosed me?

Re: Trying to do the Self-Assessment
Hi Lori,
Welcome, nice to meet you. How are you ?
I was in a lot of pain before I did LTBP system and I hadn't done any exercise or been very mobile for months so my body was not used to the exercises.
I found I had to take it real slow, do one exercise for my main imbalance, do that for a few days then move on to the next one and gradually build up. You may find you do better if you do the exercises after a warm shower or bath, when your body is warm.
You should feel the stretch but not push too hard just go gently and slowly and gradually build up. If any exercises hurt then ease off them and try again when your body is more used to it.
I was just wondering what your drs diagnosis was? I had low back pain and sciatica,DDD and herniated discs.(disc problems diagnosed through MRI) Are you getting sciatica or back pain alone?
Which of the dysfunctions did you identify through the self assessments?
Are you able to ease the pain? I found heat on my back helped. Also getting in the water and just gentle walking and floating, just being in the water or a hot tub helped me some.
I know people here are happy to help so do keep in touch.

Re: Trying to do the Self-Assessment
Hi Ann, thank you for responding to me. I wish I could say I am doing good, but life has been very difficult. In Nov 2000, my left foot went completely limp. I had an extremely difficult time to go to the bathroom as well. My dr said my nerve was pinched as wanted to do surgery within a week. I got scared and cancelled 2 days before that. After about 4 months of being on crutches I just started getting use of my foot again. I had lower back pain on and off until summer of 2005. Then the pain became pretty steady. I had a MRI in early 2006. There are 2 small cysts - the larger on the right side 4th vert (i think) and 1 on the L5. I have had 3 series of shots in my back, so many different kinds of meds I can't name them all, but then I got shingles in Aug 0f 06. That added 2 new meds (used by eptileptics) and almost allowed them to burn the nerve endings just below the skin. After 6 months of intense burning in my back, the shingles went away. But the back pain increased. I had 2 shots on Jan 28 this year. the pain has gotten worse steadily since. I had a 2nd MRI 2 months ago and was told by my dr and the "Spine Center" that I had degenertive disk dis. The L4-L5 area is supposed to be the cause now. I feel like no-one really knows whats going on. I was sent to the surgeon - who told me he didn't think surgery would help. He wants me to get the shots again. Because maybe the spine center missed to right spot.) I haven't worked since Jan. Now I can't even walk without help. I'm getting burned out on the meds, my daughter is suffering the effects as well. Most of the pain has always been in the lower back area. But now - it goes down my left hip into my thigh area. My toes get numb. Last week, the pain spread across most my back and for about 2 hours it actually hurt to breathe. I just want my life back. If I did the assessment correctly, I have Forward Tipped Pelvis and possibly High Hip. I have decided to try this prgm as well as try accupuncture and see if a friends Chiro can look at both my MRI's and exrays to see if he can help. Any advice given would be greatly appreciated. I usually put deep heat on my back several times a day. My morning are always the worst.
Has your pain been improving using this program? I hope so. Take care.

Re: Trying to do the Self-Assessment
Hi Lori,
You certainly have been/are going through a lot and I admire that you are keeping going seeking your solution, it is so important. Do come here anytime you need to talk...support is important too.
Yes Lose the back pain has helped me a lot. I was at the stage where everything I had tried did not work.My Dr withdrew physio as it was not working. They said I would have to consider surgery(which I was resisting) or live with it.
Within a few weeks of finding LTBP I got some relief then it was steady but not always linear progress. When I saw the neurosurgeon he said to carry on using LTBP as it was doing me good and to also do water therapy which I have found the combination works well for me.
I feel I can now look after my back properly. I generally do not get pain now unless I get stressed. I did not have to have surgery.
I wonder if you could ask if water therapy might help you ? Also check if you can try heat pads if heat works for you -you can get some that give 8 hours of continual heat. As I couldn't take painkillers I also used a TENS machine which worked quite well for me though some people dont find them so useful-best if you can just try one first.

Re: Trying to do the Self-Assessment
Ann, thank you so much for taking the time to tell me new things to consider. I have 4 appts within the next 9 days - getting specifics about other options. Now I can add a couple more things to learn about. I've been doing the 1st 4 stretches for 3 days, but hoping to add 2-3 more tomorrow. So we'll see what I learn and try next. Take care and thank you again. Lori
