Just got cortisone shot 4 days ago. I know it says it usually takes a few days to take affect, but I was wondering how it progresses. Quickly? gradually?
I would like to hear from some people who has been through it and there experience after receiving shot.
Thanks
What is the experience like after cortisone shot?

Hi Dave,
Sorry i have never had a cortisone shot.
I was just wondering how you are doing now? Is it helping you ?
Have you tried any other treatments to help you ?
Wishing you all the best

Thanks for asking. My progress stopped at about 60%. It did allow me to get back to work on a limited basis, however, i have elected to get surgery in hopes that i will be able to be pain free or close to it. Thanks for the reply!

I had in 2006-2007 3 cortisone shots. The first I received did a good relief of the pain (left leg sciatica) and I became able to sleep more than 4 hours during the night without having to get up, put ice, walk around. But I was also having ostheopathe (I don't know in english the name of those) The second one had a less important effect, but still I could stop taking pain killer all day long. The third was very painful and did'nt change nothing.
I should also say that I had stop working and during the day I alternated sitting, laying and walking (short 15-20 min walk) and that is I beleive part of the treatment for a good heal.
I also had finally neuro-vertebral decompression which gave me back the possiblity to cut my toes nail! But after almost 5 years away of it, I found that sitting at my job (for more thant 30 years) is also part of the problem. It make to much pression at my lower back and sciatica is never far from coming back (less intensive than in 2006).
So pain killer from time to time is part of my life now. I ordered a special kneeling chair to see if it can help and I also found posture excercises which also help. After all I think that when you are in peak pain period, rest (changing positions) and painkillers are required. After that if the back and/or sciatica come back, that you should find what in your habits, job or postures makes the relapse.

Evelyne,
Thank u very much for the response. Your experience seems to b like most others I've talked to. My pain is left leg sciatica as well and layin down seems to b the only relief (outside of vicoden of course!). Can't wait for my surgery this Tuesday, I really hope it helps as much as it seems to have helped others. Best of luck to u and thanks again for the responsePosted 1 year ago #
