Ignatia Homeopathy
8 Top Benefits of this Ancient Stress Pain Reliever

This natural, homeopathic remedy comes from the seeds of the St. Ignatius bean, which are found on the Strychnos ignatia tree common to the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asia.
Named for Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuit missionary order who discovered it in the late 1600s, it has been part of the Materia Medica, the most comprehensive book of homeopathic medicines, since the early 1800s.
"Homeopathic Prozac:” 8 Top Benefits of Ignatia
Today ignatia or ignatia homeopathy is commonly known as "homeopathic Prozac,” as it’s highly useful for treating emotional conditions and challenges (although traditionally ignatia was also used to treat headaches, coughs, sore throats and menstrual problems too).
It’s most beneficial for emotional disturbances, with one study showing homeopathic remedies containing ignatia lead to "substantial improvement in psychological and psychosomatic symptoms” in women.[i] Foremost, ignatia is known to benefit emotional conditions such as:
- Anxiety
- Grief
- Poor mood
- Hysteria
- Shocks
- Disappointment
- Insomnia due to grief or worry
- Menopause-related emotional disturbances[ii]
One of the most revealing studies of ignatia came after a construction disaster in Israel. Injured patients were given homeopathic remedies including ignatia, depending on their type of anxiety. One day later, "most patients reported a lessening of pain, 58% felt improvement, 89% had reduced anxiety, and overall, 61% felt that homeopathic treatment was helpful.”[iii]
Further, in an animal study, it was further proven that homeopathic ignatia modified some emotion-related symptoms in mice without impairing their mobility.[iv]
Interestingly, homeopathic remedies including ignatia were also found to significantly decrease the frequency, severity and duration of migraine attacks in children,[v] as well as benefit the treatment of oral lichen planus, an autoimmune condition that causes lacy white patches in the mouth.[vi]
It is because of ignatia’s noted benefit to relieving emotional distress, allowing your muscles to relax, as well as calming nerves and relieving stress that can lead to tight shoulders, that we also included it Rub on Relief®, our all-natural, safe and incredibly effective pain relief cream.
